Stress Management and Burnout Prevention

Thursday, October 1, 2026 - 10:00:00 AM until

On Thursday, 1st October 2026, the Northern Ireland Frontline Network will be holding an in-person, full-day workshop in Belfast, focused on stress, burnout and wellbeing at work.

The workshop will be held at Innovation Factory, Forthriver Business Park, 385 Springfield Road, Belfast BT12 7DG, running from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Many staff working in homelessness services operate in high-pressure environments and are regularly exposed to complex and emotionally demanding situations. Over time, this can increase the risk of stress and burnout, particularly where early warning signs are missed, or workplace pressures feel constant.

This interactive full-day workshop – led by Cavehill Psychology – gives staff the opportunity to explore stress, burnout and wellbeing in a practical and meaningful way. The session goes beyond simple self-care messages to examine how burnout develops, why early signs are often overlooked, and what helps people continue to work well in pressured roles.

The workshop will explore practical themes including boundaries, communication, support, role demands and workplace culture. Participants will have dedicated space to reflect, share perspectives with others working in similar roles, and leave with realistic ideas they can take back into their day-to-day practice.

The session is facilitated by Dr Carol Strahan, Director of Cavehill Psychology, and draws on psychological theory, burnout research and extensive experience supporting staff wellbeing across organisations. Carol’s approach is reflective, realistic and grounded in the pressures of modern working life.

As with all NI Frontline Network events and workshops, this session is entirely free to attend for staff working directly with people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. All we ask is that you are signed up to the Northern Ireland Frontline Network newsletter.

Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure as many organisations as possible can benefit, a maximum of four places per organisation will apply. A waiting list will be held should additional places become available.
