The session will focus on gaining an understanding of Homelessness & Housing rights, which is perfect for those new to the sector and also those wanting a refresher.

What this training covers

On the day the knowledgeable Shelter team will cover the following:

  • what duties a local authority might owe to a homeless applicant
  • the five tests of homelessness, including priority need and eligibility
  • when accommodation duties are triggered and what this means

Who this training is for

You don't need any prior knowledge of homelessness applications for this course.

You might be new to a role as an adviser or work for a local authority in housing or homelessness. This course is also suitable if you don't specialise in housing but need to know the basics. This is open to collegues from the statutory, public & third sector.

There will be breakfast pastries on arrival and refreshments throughout the morning. This is also a great opportunity to connect with other local partners and share expertise.

Places are in high demand so please ensure that you are able to commit to attending when booking and if you are unable to make it let kim.hughes@wearestreetlife.org know as soon as possible so another partner can have your place.
