Use and Misuse: mental capacity, homelessness & multiple disadvantage

Wednesday, March 25, 2026 - 10:00:00 AM until

This webinar presents findings from a study on mental capacity assessments with people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage in England. It explores practitioner approaches, lived experience perspectives, and the challenges of applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in this context. The session will consider what makes a ‘good’ assessment, whether capacity is being approached appropriately, and where greater national clarity is needed. Led by Jess Harris and Stephen Martineau (Homelessness Research Programme, HSCWRU, King’s College London), this webinar is the final opportunity to contribute to the study’s knowledge exchange activities.
