Calling frontline workers across the UK- the Frontline Network is setting up a new Frontline Worker Advisory Group, and we’d love you to be a part of this! The FWAG will support more opportunities for staff working with people experiencing homelessness to amplify their voices and be part of our UK-wide work.

Background

For the last 10 years, St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity Frontline Network has supported frontline staff working with people experiencing homelessness across the UK to feel, connected, informed and resourced to undertake their roles effectively.

We want people with direct, first-hand knowledge of the issues we address to be central to that work — their expertise is what helps us effect real change.

We plan to build on our work to date and establish a Frontline Worker Advisory Group (FWAG) of up to 15 frontline workers.

What will I do as a member of the Frontline Worker Advisory Group?

Members of the group will contribute and share their valuable insights during meetings, bring lived and learned experiences of homelessness to support informing, enacting and effecting change. You will be involved with informing our programmatic and influencing work. Specific tasks could include:

  • Supporting planning of our Frontline Network Annual Conferences
  • Advising how we grow our reach across areas of the UK to staff who are currently not engaged in our work, including our training programme, VRF and wider resources

Who can apply?

Staff working across the UK in frontline roles that directly support people experiencing homelessness and a select group of our Charity team will make up this group. We are keen to hear from people at all points in their career. We determine frontline worker in this instance as follows (please note this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Staff who are providing direct support to a group of people experiencing homelessness, currently accessing support. (Managers and Team Leaders who are not responsible for a direct caseload of people accessing support are unable to apply to be part of this group)
  • Voluntary, Public or Statutory sector staff
  • Frontline staff working in roles within housing and homelessness settings, Mental Health teams, Criminal Justice System, Drug and Alcohol Support provision, Housing Options as examples
  • Staff who bring lived and or learned experiences of homelessness and other wrap around support needs that intersect

How to apply

You will need to read through the full details of this opportunity before you apply to be part of our frontline worker advisory group form. The closing date is 6pm on 28 September 2026.

Our team will review all applications and notify people by 13 October if they have been shortlisted. We will arrange follow up calls of up to one hour with shortlisted people between the 19 and 28 October.

We are working to confirm members of the group by 2 November. Our first meeting will take place online from 2pm-4pm on Thursday 19 November 2026.
