Youth & Women's Homelessness Network Event: supporting young women who are homeless
Youth & Women's Homelessness Network Event: supporting young women who are homeless
There have been some major successes for women's rights in the past decade, shining a light on women’s experiences of homelessness and moving forward women’s entitlements to a home. This has included the introduction of the Domestic Abuse Act in 2021.
There has been less attention, however, on the specific experiences of young women. Recent reports have highlighted the pervasiveness of sexual harassment and forms of VAWG in young women's lives and charities have recently reported a rise in the number of young women sleeping rough. Now more than ever we need to understand the intersection of these experiences, and how we can apply gender and trauma-informed approaches when supporting young women in homelessness services.
Following our Ending Women's Homelessness Grants programme, and as part of the 16 Days of Action, Homeless Link is running this learning and network event to focus on the needs of young women.
This event will be an opportunity to:
- Share learning from our Ending Women’s homelessness grants programme and Young & Homeless research
- Explore the support needs of young women, and challenges and barriers to support
- Reflect and share practice with other delegates
Further details to come.
This free event will take place at 10.30 am-1.00pm, on Wednesday 1st December. Please register in advance.
