Responses needed for homelessness & multiple disadvantage research

Friday, May 3, 2024

The University of Nottingham would like to invite frontline staff in the homelessness sector to take part in a research study about whether different ways of understanding people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage, influences the behavioural intentions of staff who work in homelessness services.

This study aims to investigate whether a values-informed understanding of an individual facing severe and multiple disadvantage, influences the attributions made by staff who support them. A value-informed understanding will be compared to a cognitive-behavioural and biographical understanding. The study also aims to explore the impact of different ways of understanding severe and multiple disadvantage on the behavioural intentions of staff to support someone experiencing this.

All participants who take part in the study will be asked if they would like to ‘opt in’ to be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win Amazon gift vouchers (of varying monetary value), to thank them for their time and effort.

Who can take part?

  • Staff who currently work within a service user facing role in UK homelessness services
  • Staff with at least 6 months of experience working with severe and multiple disadvantage

What will you be asked to do?

  • Complete a short online survey, taking approximately 15-20 minutes

Are there any possible disadvantages or risks in taking part?

We don’t expect there to be any disadvantages or risks to taking part, however it is recognised by the research team that some of the information written within the vignettes may have the potential to be perceived as upsetting.
