The two seminars are half a day each. They are designed for those working with young people wishing to gain a good overview of the Homelessness and Community Care rights of Young People up to age 25, most of which apply to all adults. You will learn what duties the local authority owe your clients giving you greater knowledge to help young people access the homelessness and community care services they need.
We will spend a morning clarifying the basics of Homelessness law, including the new duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. In the afternoon we will give an overview of young people's legal rights under the Children and Families Act 2014 and Care Act 2014. Both seminars will be looking at what the legislation and guidance states and what should happen when a young person approaches the local authority when homeless or in need of care.
When we are finished you should have a good overview of the rights of homeless young people and those needing care services and what duties the local authority has to help them.
Who should come: Youth Workers, Support Workers, interested parties and anybody wanting to know more about what rights you or someone you know, have if you are homeless or need help from the local authority.
