Across the UK, the temperature in public life has been rising. From heated political rhetoric and online hate to direct physical threats made against services, frontline workers are navigating an increasingly volatile environment. This atmosphere is impacting staff professionally and personally, as they continue to reach and support people experiencing homelessness.
In addition, the recent local elections in Scotland, Wales, and England have delivered significant changes to who is responsible for local policy, funding and services.
In this opening session of the Frontline Network Annual Conference 2026, we heard from speakers across the four nations who are directly responding to this changing environment.
