Drug Trends and How to Respond
A session looking at recent drug trends and harm reduction strategies, focusing on the use of synthetic opioids (Nitazenes), cannabinoids (Spice) and Ketamine (particularly among young people). The session also explored the intersection with mental health and self-medicating in response to trauma.
Speakers discussed best practice in screening, harm reduction advice in challenging environments (e.g. on the street, in supported accommodation), referral pathways and signposting.
We heard from organisations across the UK involved in harm reduction work.
Speakers: David Gill (Risk and Resilience), Derek McParland (Simon Community), Sarah Peat and Morgan Lewis-Wilson (both at Crew)
