Homeless Link

1pm-4pm

Storehouse Community Centre, Coleman Street, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 5AW

You are warmly invited to attend the next meeting of the Southend Homelessness Community of Practice. The event is open to frontline professionals and practitioners from the homelessness sector, and also related sectors where the work brings you into contact with people experiencing homelessness.

What is a Community of Practice?
A Community of Practice (CoP) is a model of social learning for practitioners in a particular discipline. It is based on the understanding that frontline workers, carrying out the work on a day-to-day basis have all the knowledge and expertise about the systems they work within to improve them. They are are an opportunity to be in a safe space with a group of your peers, share knowledge or just take time out build your networks in Southend.

Why now?
As homelessness numbers rise, the pressure on organisations is rising, and so are the pressures for frontline workers. It is increasingly apparent that work must be done in partnership with other organisations and sectors, and too often, the links between different organisations are not created at frontline level, where arguably, there would be the most immediate impact.

What’s in it for me?
As an attendee at the CoP, you’ll have time, space and safety to discuss issues which are most challenging to you at the moment, in the company of your peers and people who understand the issues, with a view to collaboratively identifying solutions. You'll meet other workers involved in ending homelessness from the sector, or health, or the Local Authority, or indeed any organisation that plays any part in addressing the issues presented by homelessness.

How much does it cost?
The event is completely free to attend, and there will be a light lunch provided at the start of the session. Sign up early as spaces are limited!

Who should attend?
Frontline workers, or managers carrying out frontline work in the sector. People with professional experience in related sectors, e.g. adult social care, mental health, criminal justice, housing etc. (this list is not exhaustive).
