Vicar's Relief Fund

The VRF (Vicar’s Relief Fund) helps people at risk of, or currently experiencing homelessness through providing crisis grants to prevent eviction or help access accommodation. As a frontline worker, you can apply for a grant on behalf of individuals you are supporting.

We do not accept applications from members of the public or volunteers, only from paid frontline workers.

What we fund

We consider funding:

£350 maximum to prevent eviction eg for rent arrears, service charge arrears, debt relief orders, bankruptcy fees or money to pay for a hoarding clean-up.

£500 maximum to help access accommodation eg for rent deposits, rent in advance, ID fees or temporary accommodation costs.

2024 Frontline Worker Survey open!

We believe that listening to frontline experience is crucial to addressing homelessness. This is why we conduct an annual survey of the people who work on the frontline about the issues they are seeing every day.

We are looking to gather responses from people who are:

  • Frontline workers, directly supporting people experiencing homelessness.
  • Paid employees or volunteers working in the public, statutory or voluntary sector.
  • Based in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

There are four pages of questions, starting with basic questions about yourself and your organisation, and then exploring your insights into addressing homelessness and lastly your experiences of frontline work. We estimate that the survey should take around 15 minutes to complete.

You are welcome to share this webpage or tweet @SMITF_Frontline using the hashtag #FrontlineWorkerSurvey. If you would like a communications pack featuring a newsletter blurb and other promotional resources, please get in touch frontline@stmartinscharity.org.uk.
