The Power of Language

Thursday 25th April, 2019

3pm-5pm

The Children’s Society, Margery Street, London. WC1X 0JL

Sarah Wayman, Campaigns Manager at The Children’s Society, and Ryan Wise- Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) are organising an informal meet up to explore how the language used by professionals can impact on the support young people receive from services. The event will look at how we might work together to improve this, to create change for young people within the services that are there to help them.

This is a free event and is open to any frontline worker working with young people. If you work in the public, statutory and/or voluntary sectors, it would be great to have you come along.

Please see here for Sarah’s blog- What’s in a Word, exploring the Power of Language. This looks at how we choose to frame a young person and their lives, can shape how they are perceived by others or the support they receive.

If you are interested in attending or having any questions, please contact Sarah Wayman on Sarah.Wayman@childrenssociety.org.uk
