The aim is to get service users to take responsibility for maintaining a bike to enable them to attend appointments in town, which is a 5 mile round trip to and from the service.

To acquire 10 second-hand bikes, so they can be cleaned up, re-sprayed (service users can choose their own design), and then worked on to bring them up to road worthy standard. They will have lights and locks.

Many service users have to attend several appointments, such as with drug and alcohol services, doctors, mental health services, and with the job centre, all of which are located in town.

This application is from a supported accommodation service, funded by the Council and staffed 24/7. It provides short-term accommodation and support for up to 22 people who are homeless and have complex needs such as drug and alcohol addiction and mental health issues.

The outcomes will be measured by an increase in service users attending appointments, and service users having positive outcomes as they will be able to attend their appointments for a wide range of services by using their bikes.
