Implementing the Homelessness Reduction Act - London and South East England

Thursday 15 March 2018

9.30am to 3.30pm

Croydon Park Hotel, 7 Altyre Road, Croydon CR9 5AA

This is a free event.

This is one of a series of Homeless Link events to support frontline workers to develop effective responses to meeting the new duties contained within the Act.

The Homelessness Reduction Act recently became law and is due to be enacted in April 2018.

The Act seeks to modify and extend the existing homelessness law and places new duties on local authorities surrounding people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

These events will provide you with an up-to-date brief on what is contained within the Act, and how it can be implemented, including early learning from a DCLG trailblazer area that has already adopted a prevention focused approach to meet the new legislation.

The event will bring together professionals from the voluntary sector and statutory services to discuss:

- how you can best address the advisory duty

- what you need to put in place to effectively fulfil the duty to refer

- explore how the spirit of the act can create opportunities to cultural and systems change locally

- how to implement a healthy and effective review process

- what a local personal support or housing plan might look like

- how you can work together to make all of this a success.

This is your opportunity to convey the role that your service can play in meeting these new duties.
