Frontline Reflections

Event Time: July 21st, 2020 - 10am

Location: Online (Register Here)

There’s a lot of talk within the sector around strength-based practice & asset-based work, but what does it really mean to work in a truly person-led way?

Mayday is delighted to be working with the Frontline Network to present Frontline Reflections, a unique online session for Frontline Network members, which is based on years of experience developing a whole systems approach to strength-based work

The Frontline Network supports frontline staff working in the voluntary, statutory & public sectors, with people experiencing homelessness. If you're not registered with Frontline Network you can do so here https://frontlinenetwork.org.uk/frontline-account-management/register/

During this session, Mayday will share the learning (and sometimes the pain) of developing & delivering the Personal Transitions Service (PTS), a highly personalised, grassroots approach that places power & control in the hands of the people, not the system.

This experiential session allows for reflection on the current deficit-based system, & debunking some of the myths around people going through tough times. It aims to challenge mindsets and behaviours around ‘fixing’ & power dynamics & explore strength-based approaches.

What will be covered?
• Reflection on the current deficit/ needs-based system
• Overview, background and development of the Personal Transitions Service
• Reflection on the effects of the current system for the people we work with
• Fixing
• Brokering

What will you be taking away?
• Have improved understanding the current deficit system
• Reflect on and evaluate the impact of these traditional services on people going through tough life transitions, such as homelessness
• Gain greater insight into how the current system feels for those going through it
• Gain knowledge of how PTS was developed in response to this and the benefits for people going through tough life transitions

There will be a limit to 15 people for this session, however we will be holding future sessions
